I am a teacher of engineering with nearly 10 years experience. I endeavour to produce a range of resources that will help students to really engage with engineering as a subject and later, a profession. My resources are always produced to make it as easy as possible for you to change, edit add and remove content, or you can simply use the resources as they are. My main focus is to give you all of the information you will need to teach a subject, with as little fuss as possible.

COSHH in Engineering session

(2)
Powerpoint and activities to fit an hours session, more or less depending on the level of students. Teacher will need to have knowledge of some of the materials used in the categories of COSHH. Described from an engineering perspective. Feel free to cut, paste and use the resources for any other purpose.
Technical Drawing Workbooks

Technical Drawing Workbooks

(2)
Engineering/Technical drawing workbooks for 12-19 year old students (depending on previous knowledge, skills etc.) Comprehensive introduction to technical drawing covering topics such as - Sketching, isometric projection, orthographic projection, dimensioning and British standards. Good to use in the case of covering lessons as most of the activities are self explanatory. Many drawings have been used from textbooks - repurposed with original activities to develop skills in DT and technical drawing. Feel free to cut, paste and use any images, information and activities to suit your teaching.
Material Grouping chart

Material Grouping chart

(1)
A chart that shows how materials are grouped together. I have this laminated so that during the intro to materials students can write on it with whiteboard markers. It's just a simple sheet that I use quite regularly. Feel free to copy, paste, chop and change anything you want.
CAD (Solidedge) Introduction

CAD (Solidedge) Introduction

(1)
Activities that are designed to ease students into 3D modelling on Solidedge. Starts very basic but increases in difficulty throughout. Requires a teacher with a fair level of Solidedge experience. Feel free to cut, paste and chop anything you want in order to suit your own style.
Materials Engineering Booklet

Materials Engineering Booklet

(1)
29 page Engineering materials booklet covering the main introductory principles of metals, grain structures and properties; including facts, information, images and diagrams. It goes from basic materials properties through to grain structure, crystallisation and mechanical properties. There are no activities in the booklet itself however they could be easily produced from the large amount of content. Booklet is suited for post 16 - Level 3 introductory classes or advanced Level 2 classes, it could even be purposed for GCSE chemistry students. Please feel free to cut, chop and paste anything in the booklet to suit your own needs.
Solidedge/Engineering drawing worksheet

Solidedge/Engineering drawing worksheet

(1)
A formative assessment worksheet featuring a range of isometric and orthographic projections that start simple and work up to complex. I produced this for a formative assessment during Solidedge teaching, in order to assess the progress of my whole cohort. I used a cloud based folder system for each student for me to assess the work. It could be easily be used for manual Technical drawing classes. Feel free to cut, paste and use any drawings, or sketches for other purposes.
Technical drawing activities

Technical drawing activities

(1)
Tech drawing powerpoint that starts by showing the different types of line involved in engineering drafting and moves on to an animation that explains the methods behind drawing circles in isometric projection. Following this are several activities that use the technique, advancing in complexity. You could easily produce a handout from the frames in the slides, allowing for differentiation in ability. Feel free to cut, paste and change anything to suit your own style.
Materials Revision Sheet

Materials Revision Sheet

(3)
Worksheet placed onto a powerpoint slide, revises properties of materials, electron configuration and the periodic table. Good to use as a starter activity or as a quick quiz, for use it can be printed as it is or printed as an a3 sheet. Feel free to chop, change, cut or paste anything you might find useful.
Engineering Drawing resource
stevegowansstevegowans

Engineering Drawing resource

(1)
Resource for engineering or technical drawing. Includes large (124 slide) PPT file with lots of activities and information, and worksheets that follow some of the presentations activities. When I use this resource I hide the slides that I don’t need and only use the parts that I want to use for a given lesson. Please feel free to chop, change and cut anything in the resource (you will notice that it isn’t in widescreen but if you copy the slides you want into a newer version of PPT it should still look good)
Plastics and Moulding

Plastics and Moulding

(1)
Powerpoint handout and plastics overview sheet for inection moulding. Can be used to reinforce and revise during BTEC courses in engineering. Feel free to cut and paste to suit yourself.
Ceramics - Information presentation.

Ceramics - Information presentation.

(0)
Presentation with lots of ceramics manufacturing information. Designed to be used with mid level materials students (BTEC Level 3, more or less) Lots of information so I would cut out the slides that you want and make your lessons around that. Feel free to chop and change anything you like.
BTEC Level 1/2 - Unit 1 - The Engineered World Revision Booklet
stevegowansstevegowans

BTEC Level 1/2 - Unit 1 - The Engineered World Revision Booklet

(0)
Booklet that covers a wide range of the specification for the BTEC unit 1 - The Engineered World. All activities are fully answered already - before issuing to students you might want to spend bit of time deleting the answers to produce a student copy. I have done it this way to give you freedom of choice as to the information you leave in the book. Feel free to chop and change any of the activities that you wish to deliver as individual activities.
CAM research session

CAM research session

(0)
Questions designed for students to research around the appropriate topics that feature in the City & Guilds Engineering CAM (Level 2) unit. Basic way of getting students to revise - My students quite enjoyed it and because of the way I worded questions, I had very good success rates. Feel free to cut any questions out that you want in order to suit your own teaching style.
Measuring using micrometers and Vernier Callipers
stevegowansstevegowans

Measuring using micrometers and Vernier Callipers

(0)
A worksheet introducing students to measurement using engineering tools. First section describes the methods used to measure using the micrometer, the second section describes measurement using the vernier scale. Both sections are complete with some sample activities to test the students knowledge. I would use the worksheet along with the actual measuring tools so the students can handle the equipment as they work, this will reinforce their learning. It will be helpful for a teacher who already knows how to read both scales to teach as it will require some explanation to support the work.
Drilling area posters

Drilling area posters

(0)
Posters made to occupy the walls around pillar drills. They show drillbit geometries, clamping methods and all three mention safety. All posters are on A3 paper and look great when laminated. Feel free to change anything that you don't like or wish to adjust.
Health and Safety case studies
stevegowansstevegowans

Health and Safety case studies

(0)
Short case studies that can be used with all students to form opinions about regulations and procedures in the world of work. I copy each of the studies out, usually at the beginning of a course to start discussions about health and safety at work, before the students have had an opportunity to learn about the subject in depth. Please feel free to chop and change anything you like to suit your own style.
